Do you care about Connecticut's environment? Do you work to protect and preserve our natural resources? Then you might be interested in CT Environmental Headlines.

CT Environmental Headlines is more than a blog, or website, or daily e-mail. It is a community of organizations and individuals who share an interest in and commitment to the conservation and preservation of Connecticut's environment.

In our first year, CT Environmental Headlines posted 5,000 links to environmental news stories, updated the site everyday, and sent more than 300 Today's Headlines updates to for a total of 60,000 e-mails.

While we are garnering more interest from a community of potential advertisers, donations and reader subscriptions, are way down. And as we continue to research things we would rather avoid - like paid subscription services and multilevel website access -- we urge you once again to support the service any way you can, especially if you or your organization find it useful.

Disseminate your environmental news. Advertise a service. Promote an event. Or show your support for the Connecticut's environment through CT Environmental Headlines.

CT Environmental Headlines receives 5,000 unique visitors a month. 500 environmentally minded people subscribe to our e-mail updates. We have more than 45 fans on Facebook and 850 followers on Twitter (the second largest number of followers of anyone posting #connecticut items.

Connecticut schools, libraries and town officials encouraged to use CT Environmental Headlines

An increasing number of teachers, schools, and other educators, including libraries, plus towns and town officials as well as doctors, nurses, legislators and others interested in public health issues are finding CT Environmental Headlines a useful service.

Take this article, for instance, written by a sixth-grader at Eastern Middle School. Unless you were a subscriber or a regular visitor to the website of the Greenwich Time, how else would you be made aware that Gianna DeMasi supports making homes more Earth friendly?

Founded in December of 2007, CT Environmental Headlines is a blog that posts links to each day's environmental news stories that are reported in Connecticut newspapers. Additionally, readers are able to sign up for free e-mail updates that contain the content of the site. The e-mails are easily readable on the World Wide Web for those with slow connections.

Another recent article in the Waterford Times reported on the Going Green Award that was presented to Waterford Public Schools on Nov. 15, 2008 by the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education and the Department of Environmental Protection.

The website is receiving more than 3,000 visits a month from environmentally minded Web surfers and more than 400 are now signed up to receive CT Environmental Headlines e-mail updates.

If you are a teacher at a school in Connecticut, or if you are a librarian at a library in Connecticut, or if you are a Connecticut state senator or Connecticut state representative at the Capitol in Hartford, then you have a vested interested in the health and well being of your students, customers, and constituents. CT Environmental Headlines provides easy access to all the state's news headlines published on the Internet.

CT Environmental Headlines also covers national stories of state importance like a recent story in the Washington Post about President-elect Barack Obama choosing Nobel Prize-winning physicist Steven Chu, who heads the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, to be the next Energy Secretary.

Employees at the Connecticut science centers including the The Mystic Aquarium and Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk are also finding the Headlines a useful service to keep abreast of things going on in the state's environmental community.

Readers include environmental lawyers, members of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, the Connecticut legislature, environmental lawyers, lobbyists and anyone interested in environmental news in Connecticut, as well as national and international stories that affect the health of the air, land and water in Connecticut.

The blog is dependent on financial support from readers and companies who would benefit from advertising their products and/or services to environmentalists and an eco-friendly audience.

"We've had great success with all of the ads that people and organizations have run on the blog," said editor Christopher Zurcher, who founded CT Environmental Headlines in December, 2007. The rates are very reasonable in today's economic climate and can be run for as little as a donation of $25 for a week, or $100 a month.

The audience of environmental organizations, businesses, law firms, towns, libraries, colleges, universities, students, journalists, editors and others offers a specific audience for companies and organizations wishing to tell others about what they do, whether it's an upcoming event or a new product. CT Environmental Headlines will review your environmentally friendly product or do a write up about the services that you offer and send that information to environmentalists and others interested in the environment who visit the blog and/or receive his daily e-mail updates.
